Retelling history in sound—stories of the past, voiced by the global majority.

Gabay Productions is a niche audio production company dedicated to creating immersive, research-driven history podcasts. We aim to blend storytelling, education, and sound design to make the past compelling and accessible.

Hanna Adan is the founder of Gabay Productions. With nearly a decade of experience in television and podcast production, Hanna has worked with major outlets like Al Jazeera, the BBC, and Vice, honing her skills in storytelling, audio production, and journalistic integrity. Her passion lies in exploring how the stories of the past continue to shape the world today. Through Gabay Productions, Hanna strives to bring these stories to life, blending rich historical research with compelling sound design to make history both engaging and accessible.

The name Gabay is inspired by a traditional form of Somali poetry, known as Maanso. Gabays are a powerful part of Somali culture, often used to express complex themes like identity, belonging, social justice, and the human experience. These poems have been passed down through generations and serve as a platform for social commentary, political expression, and storytelling. In choosing the name Gabay Productions, Hanna wanted to honour this living tradition and its focus on giving voice to the experiences of the past while speaking to the issues that continue to resonate in the present.
